Rules and Playing Conditions

The following information gives a brief outline of some of the important aspects of the different formats that matches can take in this district. This is a general outline of conditions that all players should be aware of, for a more detailed and accurate account please refer to the appropriate rule book. A link to the laws of cricket is now available on this web site, but some rules are adjusted to the local competition. If any information giving to you by the club or the association conflicts with the information contained on this web site, the first shall prevail. Any questions please email the club. 

Juniors - One Day Game

  • Games commence at 8:00am and continue through until 12:30pm
  • Both sides will bat and bowl in the given period of time, with a 10 minute period between the change of innings
  • Both sides require at least seven players present for the match to commence (this includes the match being declared a draw due to rain), a side who does not have seven players shall forfeit the match.
  •  
  • Both sides will complete 35 overs each or until the opposition side is bowled out
  • Bowling restrictions do apply in this match. (this varies for each age group)
  • If time allows a second innings may be played (excludes u10 and u11) where bonus points may be earned.
  •  
  • A side who bowls first and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, will only have the same number of overs that they bowled, bowled at them
  • A side who bowls second and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, the match will be considered a draw and the association will rule on the result of the match.
  •  
  • In the event of rain, if the match could not be completed because of the wether the match will be declared a draw and four points will be awarded to both sides. If the game is delayed due to wether, the allowed overs in the match will be reduced by 2 for every 7 minutes lost (please note if a side has already bowled out their entitled number of overs this does not apply). Statistics will only be counted towards district and club awards if more than 25 overs have been completed by both sides.

Juniors - Two Day Game

  • Games commence at 8:30am and continue through until 11:30am over a period of two consecutive weeks
  • A side will bat one week and bowl the other week (and vice versa)
  • Both sides require at least seven players present for the match to commence (this includes the match being declared a draw due to rain), a side who does not have seven players shall forfeit the match.
  •  
  • Both sides will complete 50 overs or until the opposition side is bowled out.
  • Bowling restrictions apply in the match. (this varies for each age group)
  • If time allows a second innings may be played (excludes u10 and u11) where bonus points may be earned.
  •  
  • A side who bowls first and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, will only have the same number of overs that they bowled, bowled at them
  • A side who bowls second and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, the match will be considered a draw and the association will rule on the result of the match.
  •  
  • In the event of rain, if the match could not be completed because of the wether the match will be declared a draw and four points will be awarded to both sides. If the game is delayed due to wether, the allowed overs in the match will be reduced by 2 for every 7 minutes lost (please note if a side has already bowled out their entitled number of overs this does not apply). Juniors - Under 16 Matches

  • Commencement and finishing times vary in this competition.
  • All games are played on Sundays
  • All games will be played on a turf wicket where possible, in the event of the turf wicket being unplayable, an agreement can be made by the management of both sides to play the game of the allocated super turf backup ground.
  •  
  • Both sides will bat and bowl on the same week
  • Both sides require at least seven players present for the match to commence (this includes the match being declared a draw due to rain), a side who does not have seven players shall forfeit the match.
  •  
  • Both sides will complete 60 overs or until the opposition side is bowled out.
  • A lunch and tea interval are taken at specified times, throughout the day
  • If time allows a second innings may be played (excludes u10 and u11) where bonus points may be earned.
  •  
  • A side who bowls first and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, will only have the same number of overs that they bowled, bowled at them
  • A side who bowls second and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, the match will be considered a draw and the association will rule on the result of the match. 
  • In the event of rain, if the match could not be completed because of the wether the match will be declared a draw and four points will be awarded to both sides. If the game is delayed due to wether, the allowed overs in the match will be reduced by 2 for every 7 minutes lost (please note if a side has already bowled out their entitled number of overs this does not apply). Rained out matches may be rescheduled by the association to be played on reserve weeks.

Juniors - Finals

  • These conditions also double as the conditions for an All Day match
  • Commencement and finishing times vary for this format.
  • All games are played on Sundays
  • All under 15 finals will be played on turf wickets, with an allocated super turf backup ground.
  • Both sides will bat and bowl in the same week
  •  
  • Both sides require at least seven players present for the match to commence (this includes the match being declared a draw due to rain), a side who does not have seven players shall forfeit the match.
  •  
  • Both sides will complete 55 overs or until the opposition side is bowled out.
  • A lunch and tea interval are taken at specified times, throughout the day
  • If time allows a second innings may be played (excludes u10 and u11) where bonus points may be earned.
  •  
  • A side who bowls first and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, will only have the same number of overs that they bowled, bowled at them
  • A side who bowls second and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, the match will be considered a draw and the association will rule on the result of the match.
  •  
  • In the event of rain, if the match could not be completed because of the wether the match will be declared a draw and four points will be awarded to both sides. If the game is delayed due to wether, the allowed overs in the match will be reduced by 2 for every 7 minutes lost (please note if a side has already bowled out their entitled number of overs this does not apply).   • In the event of the match being washed out, the team which finished higher on the points table will be deemed the winner
  • The team which finished higher on the points table is deemed the home team and is required to set up the field.
  • In the event of a tied match, the team which finished higher on the points table will be deemed the winner
  • An official neutral qualified umpire will be supplied to all matches where possible.
  • A second innings can be played, the following is the list of who wins if a specific result occur
  • Won on first innings but lost on second innings - the team which won on second innings is declared the winner (higher points)
  • Win on first innings only - the team that won is declared the winner
  • Lost on first innings, but won on second innings - the team which won on the second innings is declared the winner (higher points)
  • Won outright - this team is declared the winner
  • Tied on second innings - the team which finished higher on the points table.
  • All matches must continue until either time or both sides agree to finish.

Seniors - One Day Game

  • Games commence at 12:30pm and continue through to 7:00pm (times may vary if played outside of the daylight saving period)
  • Both sides will bat and bowl in the same week.
  • A tea break is scheduled between innings, if a side is bowled out before the scheduled time of the tea, a ten minute break will be taken and tea will be taken as usual (this is left to the discretion of the umpire)
  • All bowlers are restricted to a maximum of 10 overs each in each innings
  • If time allows a second innings may be played to earn bonus points
  • Both sides require at least seven players present for the match to commence (this includes the match being declared a draw due to rain), a side who does not have seven players shall forfeit the match.
  •  
  • Both sides will complete 50 overs or until the opposition side is bowled out.
  • A side who bowls first and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, will only have the same number of overs that they bowled, bowled at them, but must continue to bowl out their overs to the opposition side.
  •  
  • A side who bowls second and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, the match will be considered a draw and the association will rule on the result of the match.
  •

Seniors - Two Day Game (1st & 2nd Grade)

  • Games commence at 12:30pm EST and continue to 5:30pm EST. In daylight savings games shall commence and conclude half hour later ie. commence at 1:00pm and conclude at 6:00pm, over two weekends
  • All players must be dressed in proper cricket whites, no shorts may be worn by any player.
  •  
  • Most games are played on turf, where no alternative ground is provided
  • Each side shall play 80 overs per side or until the opposition is bowled out.
  • A tea break is scheduled between innings, if a side is bowled out before the scheduled time of the tea, a ten minute break will be taken and tea will be taken as usual (this is left to the discretion of the umpire)
  • No bowling restrictions apply
  • A side who bowls first and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, will only have the same number of overs that they bowled, bowled at them, but must continue to bowl out their overs to the opposition side.
  •  
  • A side who bowls second and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, the match will be considered a draw and the association will rule on the result of the match.
  •  
  • In the event of rain, if the match could not be completed because of the wether the match will be declared a draw and four points will be awarded to both sides. If the game is delayed due to wether, the allowed overs in the match will be reduced by 2 for every 7 minutes lost (please note if a side has already bowled out their entitled number of overs this does not apply).   • Games commence at 1:00pm EST and continue to 5:30pm EST. In daylight savings games shall commence and conclude half hour later ie. commence at 1:30pm and conclude at 6:00pm, over two weekends
  • Each side shall play 70 overs per side or until the opposition is bowled out.
  • No bowling restrictions apply
  • A side who bowls first and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, will only have the same number of overs that they bowled, bowled at them, but must continue to bowl out their overs to the opposition side.
  •  
  • A side who bowls second and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, the match will be considered a draw and the association will rule on the result of the match.
  •  
  • In the event of rain, if the match could not be completed because of the wether the match will be declared a draw and four points will be awarded to both sides. If the game is delayed due to wether, the allowed overs in the match will be reduced by 2 for every 7 minutes lost (please note if a side has already bowled out their entitled number of overs this does not apply). Statistics will only be counted towards district and club awards if more than 25 overs have been completed by both sides. Seniors - Finals

  • Commencement and finishing times vary for this format, this format follows normal test match rules played over two consecutive days on a set weekend.
  • A lunch and tea break will be taken.
  •  
  • Each side shall play 90 overs per side or until the opposition is bowled out.
  • No bowling restriction apply
  • A side who bowls first and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, will only have the same number of overs that they bowled, bowled at them, but must continue to bowl out their overs to the opposition side.
  •  
  • A side who bowls second and does not bowl their overs in the allowed time, the match will be considered a draw and the association will rule on the result of the match.
  •  
  • In the event of rain, if the match could not be completed because of the weather the match will be declared a draw and four points will be awarded to both sides. If the game is delayed due to wether, the allowed overs in the match will be reduced by 2 for every 7 minutes lost (please note if a side has already bowled out their entitled number of overs this does not apply). Statistics will only be counted towards district and club awards if more than 25 overs have been completed by both sides. If the first week is washed out without a ball being bowled it may be converted into a one day match to be played the following weekend.

  • The team which finished higher on the points table is deemed the home team and is required to set up the field.
  • In the event of a tied match, the team which finished higher on the points table will be deemed the winner
